At CAAM, we are so excited to welcome you back to CAAMFest 2026 in San Francisco Japantown.
CAAMFest 2026 returns us to our roots, with an ethos that is scrappy, inspired, and full of attitude. The energy of the future is palpable. Through our curated film programming, and the most ambitious Filmmaker Summit ever, we will be hyper focused on supporting how community can drive the building of more robust futures together.
This year, CAAM is embracing a new team curatorial approach. Sapana Sakya is leading our Documentary Features programming, Christian Yau-Weeks and Lauren Lola are leading our Shorts programming, and excitedly, we’re happy to welcome Dino-Ray Ramos back to CAAMFest as our Narrative Features programmer.
Again, CAAMFest is proud to partner with the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco Public Library, KOHO Creative Hub, Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, and numerous other community members.
If 2025 was the year of historic challenges and attacks on the work we stand for, 2026 is shaping up as a year of renewed enthusiasm for building the next foundation for not only Asian American, but all independent storytellers. See you at CAAMFest!

Director/Producer Yuriko Gamo Romer in attendance / Q&A.
Baseball in the United States and yakyu in Japan exist, and in fact prosper, as a result of the emergence of transpacific systems of exchange between the two countries over the past 150 years. Located on the Museum’s third floor, the exhibit covers more than 1,800 square feet of space and features four aspects of transpacific baseball:
Japanese teams touring America, including the first such tour by the Waseda University team in 1905
American teams touring Japan, including the first trip in 1907 and the massively popular tour featuring Babe Ruth in 1934
Players born in the United States playing in Japan, including Larry Doby, Warren Cromartie, Randy Bass and many more
Players born in Japan playing in the United States, starting with MLB pioneer Masanori Murakami in 1964 and followed by Hideo Nomo in 1995 and the stars that followed

After the screening we will be joined by director Yuriko Gamo Romer for a discussion and Q&A about the film.
While many know that baseball is Japan’s national pastime, few realize just how profound a role the sport has played in the relationship between Japan and the U.S. This film explores the incredible 150-year history of baseball diplomacy between the two nations—from its introduction by an American professor in the 1870s to the legendary goodwill tours of Babe Ruth and the modern-day impact of stars like Shohei Ohtani.
